Movie Folks

Sometimes seems like the people who work in movies don't have much
practice taking care of themselves.

The Caterer feeds them, Transportation moves them from place to
place, the Medic takes care of their ills, and Craft Service has
coffee and snacks. The system is flawed.

I have only five more wake-ups on this show. A leader who requires
multiple upon multiple takes is someone unsure about what they want.
The directing will take place in the editing suite.

My Photos

This is about all I can post due to almost loosing my job last week.

Seems someone on the crew who's a fb friend showed the Producer my Loopt posts. The Producer had to tell Universal, they were upset but let it pass. I still have a job but I can't post on Loopt.

Blessings

So far we haven't received favorable weather. We are experiencing
early "June Gloom", the marine layer has not lifted as of this
writing, 2:26PM.

Cooler

As I was saying yesterday, the heat really took it's toll on the
Background. One woman was on the verge of collapse due to the weather.

This patient was able to continue work after she got something to eat
(she said she hadn't eaten since 6:30AM. It was now 2:30 in the
afternoon.)

Hot in Malibu

The weather reached the high 90's today and I could really feel it here.

Breakfast

It's being offered on the table next to my cart. I think wrap will be
at 3:12 this morning but one never knows what goes through the mind of
our director.

Split calls are tough because you start mid-day or later and you can
work right up 'til dawn. I especially don't like to hear, "Good
morning!" at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. It makes me depressed.

Good morning and have a great weekend.

Be well.

Santa in Santa Barbara

Here we are in front of The Cart at the Santa Barbara City Hall. The
scene here is at a Christmas tree lot.

Greens

Our Greensmen, Jeff on ladder and Raul on the ground put camo over the
Prop truck. We are doing driving shots and the camera will "see" the
trucks.

Hum of Activity

There is no break for lunch today as we scratch and claw for every
last ray of sunlight.

We will move to Santa Barbara at wrap today for three days of day work.

Beyond Behind The Scenes

So far from the action I can barely see the video monitors.

Water Trucks & Crane

These are the "rain" trucks and they pump water up to the Champion
crane holding the sprinkler fixtures.

Morning

There is a lot of moving on a set. This is surprising when you know
that shots and scenes have been scouted, photographed, and drawn on
storyboards.

Setting Sun

Here we are in Thousand Oaks again.

The Rigging Medic is here for Special FX and I thought, no reason for
two of us on the clock.

Day Two

The second day and the second reportable injury. The Projectionist
heard and felt two "pops" as he lifted a platform. He has a possible
muscle strain to his arm.

We're in Thousand Oaks at a nice house that will double for Santa
Barbara.

To me night work is hardest part of this job. I would rather start my
day at 4AM and work 'til 9 at night than start a 6PM and go until 6 in
the morning. My body clock doesn't dig it.

I've got to get in a swim tomorrow.

First Day

The first day on a movie is about the same as the first day at school.

You have to introduce yourself to the teachers (the ADs, the UPM, and
sometimes the Producer). You need to find out where the bathrooms are
and where lunch is served. Not to mention meeting and remembering
names and job title.

Then you throw into the mix an injury and not just any injury but the
Make up/Hair person for the star.

They just called lunch so more to follow.
